Fairly good beach break. Sheltered from SW and NW winds but best at SE'rly. River Gunnel flows out at the northern end which can build good sand bars. Good quality right-hander can be found here at low tide sheltered from NW wind. When the swell is bigger, southern end produces a good left-hander sheltered from S and SW wind which is best from low to mid-tide. Good for beginners if conditions are not to big.


Beach Facilities

High season: Lifeguards, bar and restaurant plus basic equipment hire for the beginners.
All year: Toilets (situated in a beach car park).

Beach Access

From A3075 follow signs to Crantock village from where you can drive to a beach car park. You could also park at the Bowgie Inn pub and walk down to the beach. Alternatively, park at Pentire Headland and walk down the cliff steps.
