Toes??!!
Hello,
I m wondering whether anyone can give me some advice, I started surfing about 6 years ago, and was ok at it, but then Uni happened, so 3 years later I m finally back in the water again, bought my own board at last, and had a summer planned of surfing - only to find I can no longer do it!
The problem, i know partly is because the board I have bought is smaller that what I used before (6'8 i m 5'7 so not tiny or anything), but mostly becuase I cheated before and used my knees first before standing up, well now i cant do this, and really want to break this terrible habit i have.
I have been practising getting up on board on dry land, but my question is
'do you use your toes to push up with as well?'
If not do you just leap (proving very difficult!) or what are you supposed to do??!!
Also is it bad of me to grip the rails, as notice others just pushing off board with flat hands
I know I should go for lesson, I did have some a few years back, but they just laughed at my poppping up technique, and I think practise will make perfect- i hope!
