Newquay surfing in April - too cold?

Okay, so the rest of the year has somehow got booked up so no Newquay trips for a good while I'm wondering whether April would be a good time.

As I haven't been out in April before I'm wondering whether it's gonna be too cold for my 3/2 suit. The sea temperature chart I'm looking at puts April colder than sodding mid-winter!

So should I bother? Or am I gonna be a surfing icecube?

Need to surf! Need to surf!

Alternative, anyone any good (and cheap ) destinations abroad?
