Site update

28/10/2003

Gallery added to the Surf Newquay site.

After some lengthy sessions at the computer and many long nights, major new addition to this site is now complete. Gallery pages are now awaiting your photos, comments and suggestions.

What is so nice is that new gallery is seamlessly integrated with the forum software. This means that every registered forum user has access to the Gallery, so no re-registration needed. Also, all the posts and submissions in the Gallery are counted in the Forum as well.

Currently, every registered member has 1.5 Mb of space allocated, with maximum individual item upload size of 150k.

PLEASE NOTE:

This is the Public Pre-Release phase of gallery testing, so all the remaining bugs can be detected and corrected. If you notice any, please let me know.

07-08-2003

Currently unable to update the site, due to some major local network changes. Remainder of the required hardware is to be delivered later on today, so weekend is the target for return to normal.

Emails are affected as well, so if you did send one, it will take few more days before they can be read. In the meantime, stay cool and enjoy heathwave, as winter is approaching fast.

21-06-2003 - Part 2

All beach-guide pages have now been upgraded with the new look and forum integration. This means that whole site is now complete, apart from the areas that are being worked on at the moment, and are not visible.

To do:
1. * Done * 21-06-2003 All other North Cornwall + North Devon beaches await upgrade.
2. Site's front page needs further tweakage.
3. A selection of ready-to-use avatars.
4. Write the final part of 'My journey to Hawaii'.
5. never ending list.....

20-06-2003

Fixed an issue with forum pages. To my knowledge, they all display properly. Will keep an eye tho...

18-06-2003:

Added 'Welcome' box to the front page. Contains some handy tools and information, and displays user's avatar - if selected.

17-06-2003:

Known site bugs:

* Fixed * 20-06-2003 1. Some forum pages do not display properly, but this does not affect users in any way.
* Fixed * 2. 'Last Ten Posts' table on the site's home page renders too wide in IE6 so it distorts all the page margins, while Opera 7 displays whole page properly.

It took me a while to prepare all those new beach threads with their associated polls. They were hidden to all but me, and once they were ready, I just had to check one little box, and hey, they all came to life. I must find time to write my own thoughts on the beaches I surfed in the past.

Like your photo in one of the other threads, cool or what!!!

Well you have made me realise of all the cool beaches that i have not surfed in North Cornwall and North Devon.I will have to rectify that.I was thinking why most tourists who go to Newquay only surf at Fistral, and it is to do with time. The have not got the time to travel out to other spots,to surf.So they rush to the nearest surf spot,Fristal. And most accomadation places make that a selling point.I am glad that you liked my photo.Yes i am a 42 year old, long haired yo ho'lol'.
Well i hope you have most of the work done?,for the site for a while now.So you can relax a bit and enjoy your summer.
