There have been a spate of car thefts (9 in a week) from public carparks in and around Newquay (North Fistral, Watergate Bay etc.)

Person goes surfing, leaves keys under wheel/in boot/etc., comes back, car gone...

theif watches you go in, then does one with your car

what makes it worse, most modern car keys have a transponder in them, so if your car is recovered the insurance company get the techies in and test the car to see if it was started with one of your keys, if it was your insurance claim is invalid, and if you told the police you didn't leave your keys they come round and tell you off for being a naughty boy/girl
