Bugs Gallore - site update

Hi all,

You will notice that there had been some changes on the Surf Newquay site, and there will be more to come.

First off, new logo design is unvailed. This logo is product of an all day 'n' night session between me and Larry. Watch out for some cool T's bearing the new logo...

Second, forum software is upgraded. To some it might look odd, but when you get used to it, you will realize what a good upgrade it is (me thinks). All you need to do is to play around a bit, clicking on different things, just to explore some of cool new features.

Third, since most of the site (home page and beach guides) are interfaced with this forum and its database, all the coding needs to change as well. Home page looks similar to the old one, but php code underneath is completely different. That is why beach guide pages will remain closed, until all the code is upgraded.

Gallery software has been upgraded as well, but it needs some more cosmetic work to be done, so it integrates nicely with the site.

I am aware of tons of bugs on the site. I have made a long checklist, and will go through it as a matter of urgency, until all the buggers are done up.

Whole project should be completed by the end of this week, so bare with me.

Ivan

Hi Stormrider,

To change your title from current one, click on the 'Quick Links', which you will find just below 'Welcome, Stormrider...' box at the top of the page. From pull-down menu, click on 'Edit Profile' and I hope that you will be able to see an option there.

I can see it there myself, but as an administrator I have all the priviledges. You might not see that option, in which case you need to let me know and I'll escalate this further.

Another option is to let me know through PM what you want to change your name into, so I can do it for you.

Stormrider: I take it that you are giving me a green light to delete your title, and will proceed to do so.

seaslave1: When you see Google spider, it means that Google's computers are going through this forum, collecting information from threads and posts, and making it available in their search engine as a results to a relevant word searches. You might see Inktomi or other such names, which do the same thing for other search engines.

Ally: No. Infact, many colours and graphics are temporary while site is being tarted up.

Gallery is currently closed while I integrate it's style (look) with the rest of the site. I have upgraded it's code - like in this forum, which means that all previous formatting is lost. This will be completed by the end of this week, and gallery reopened.

Still, following is a gallery url:

http://www.surfnewquay.co.uk/gallery/

Ivan,

I can't add smileys to what I'm typing in my posts. I get a separate box come up telling me I have a java script error and some writing underneath.

Or as its now doing when I try to add smileys to what I'm typing it just resets the page like I have clicked refresh.

Plus I get the java script error come up when I recentlytried to attach a photograph.

Any ideas,

Hi Cheese,

That is now No.1 bug in here, and I have been getting few other reports on this issue.

I will now try to sort this bugger out, but it might take some time. In a meantime, If you want to send me your chosen avatar by Private Message or email on webmaster@surfnewquay.co.uk, I should be able to do it for you.

Hope this helps until this issue is resolved.
