GOD THIS IS MY PERSONAL HATE ON TWO ACCOUNTS ...
Actually there called GROCCLES ... it's those sado's claiming to be local when they're not coming out with the word 'Emmits' to represent the tourists ... as caught by my mate Jay & his lot a few years ago !!!
But you've done the homework on previous threads to work out it means ants, well done
But I do find local girls don't type like chav texters either so I have to ask are you enjoying yourself since you moved down here & claim to be local Do you pull more then
My excuse for they way I talk & tyoe is years of working in some of Londons roughest areas which killed my accent ... apart from a few days after I return home ...
But if your going to post threads love type proper

I dont really think it matters what they are called does it. Emmits, Groccles, tourists, holiday makers what ever same difference. You cant tell if some one is local or not by the way they type...

But as your typing in plain English & not as some chav texting we're inclined to believe you more
At the end of the day as this is a forum to which your not limited to 160 characters as your are per one basic text on a mobile phone, so its forum etiquette at the end of the day as speaing as a local I don't think my friends children speak like chavs having spent all there lives down here. its not the actual wording to make things clearer but syntax and grammer of what was said ... plus I've heard it waaaayyyyyyy too many times in my local from visiting students who get summer jobs.

I've seen tourists start fights, I've seen locals start fights, I've seen tourists drop in and I've seen locals drop in. I guess I'd just like to put this all into perspective. For every loud, lary, pissing in doorways, pucking in the street person (emmit or local) we see there's 100 people who have had a great night out without getting into such a state. Using the same scale, I've probably made the mistake of getting that pissed, probably 1 night in 100.
Maybe there's a bit of prejudice going on here. If we we're going on about black people we'd be strung up so why try and judge people by where they're from? We've all chosen Newquay, temporary or permanent, to have a good time. Shall we get on with that? Live and let live
And what happened to the tall bloke? It's clear from the way you treat people that the reason you got your head kicked in is not because of where you're from it's because you deserved it, expect another kicking if you don't change your attitude. I don't mean that malicously, just letting you know how to avoid it!
Have fun, happy surfing to ALL of you

I cant even believe there is an option in this poll called
"locals banned from surfing during season"
THATS WRONG.
Iam a local. I DO get fed up because IDIOT bathers always get in my way lol
I have no problem with genuine people learning to surf, and who have respect
Last summer i was surfing Polzeath, it was quite big for the summer 3-ft lol i just come off a wave, came up and saw someone 'attempting' to catch a wave on a HUGE longboard, and heading straight for me, needless to say they fell of starigh away, i ducked, there board missed me, but hit my board. Now, an apology wouldnt have gone amiss, but unfortuntly alot of people who surf summer surf Polzeath are SNOBS, and think they are above apologies.
If anything, emmits should be banned through the season, we surf during the cold and the wet, only to be bombarded by muppets in the warm season, who throw rubbish on the beach, bear bottles and needles
Not being funny 'tall thin guy' but i wouldnt come to your town and expect 'god' rights, expect you to wear funny tops or indeed MOVE during the summer.
Alot of it is down to attitude, have the right attitude, treat people and BEACHES with respect

I'm not from Newquay, i'm actually from Evesham, near Birmingham, i'm a keen surfer and visit Newquay for a few weeks each summer. I've never had a problem with 'locals' as they have always been lovely each time i've come across them.
The only hostility i've ever met in Newquay is from a woman in the sea, almost crashed into me whislt surfing, who complained loudly about 'silly kids pratting about on boards getting in everyones way.'
But then soon after that comment, I noticed she was not the awesome surfer she obviously tried to sound like, but actually looked like it was her 2nd or 3rd time on a board.
I can see why tourists on bodyboards and swimmers who stray from the red and yellow flags, would annoy people - they annoy me too.
If people just have respect for other surfers and the sea, i'm pretty sure no one is going to start.
Just don't stick out by acting blatently like a rude, disrespectful tourist and everything will be fine.
I've been mistaked for a local many times because I don't act prattish in the water and on land.

Im not 100% local, but my fiance is, and ive just moved to Cornwall to be with him. What I have encountered is that when I was classed as a tourist,I actually had agro from tourists thinking I was a local lass that surfs. And not just in Cornwall. Have also had locals be funny with me coz they knew I wasnt local. But, I understand why. A lot of tourists give off the impression by the way they are whilst in Cornwall, that Cornwall is a magic land where even laws dont exist. For example, have seen a few times, tourists go onto beaches where kids are playing, driving their four by fours up and down the beach as if this is acceptible. Letting their dog they brought on holiday shit all over the beach and just kick a bit of sand over it passing dogs banned signs on the way, and considering the Cornish are paying to have clean beaches at the end of the day for sum ignorant person to come and do that its disgusting.Pick fights with surfers going home at dusk time minding their own business while the tourist(s) cant help themselves coz theyre tanked up but to cause agro.Have seen not only young people but the older generation be completely ignorant to locals in many ways, verbally and/or by their actions. And don't get me started about how they drive, coz a lot are like theyve left their brains at home.I could write a book about how I as a tourist have seen many times over the years how a lot of tourists treat the locals and to tell you the truth its amazing they put up with it and some tourists should be ashamed coz they are a bad advertisement for their home county.Am sorry have rambled on, but it makes me mad when the tourists start complaining about the locals and the area they come to year in year out, expecting to do what the hell they like.

As a true local whilst some of the tourists antics do piss us off I've never seen displays of locals rule & all that crap to the level of lets say that scene in Point Break.
Yeah, drunk naked northern blokes on Towan during the day with children around whilst their equally pissed up friends egg them on is a bit much, but its generally only during the season & that's what we have a tendency to remember.
However ... there's always when they pass out in the street or on the cliffs

I can't speak for every true Cornishman can I !!!
Even those that have moved to Kernow like HIPPS from 'oop North' this very forum get fed up of the holiday makers. Like I've said its never the true tourists who cause problems or families. It's the groups of kids / yobs / thugs / twats etc.
Hell even some of these move themselves to this part of the world & continue to cause problems as well!
I think your right that a lot of people do de-sensitise to the behaviour, but we're all human as they say with different levels of tolerance.
