Question What Do You Think?.

After watching the UK programme called ''Danger On The Beach''.It keeps on showing the eye injuries that the surfers keeps on getting.

I think the main problem for this is,if you surf on a main beach like Fistral in high season. You have to surf between 2 black and white flags. To myself,it is far two narrow. It it was widened i think it would cut down on a lot of the injuries of people dropping in on over people.

So what do you think about this?.Am i talking sense?,or am i talking rubbish?.

Thumbs up

I totally agree, last year fistral was absolutley packed, especially round the boardmasters season. If the "paddlers" were moved further down the beach and extedned the black and white flags there would be a lot less mishaps and more quality surf.

It might be worth having a word with the coastguard and lifeguards bout this!

Glad you brought this up because this was a point i was going to raise.

Last year we came down for a end of season sale shopping / surf trip on the August bank holiday, I dont think we will ever do that again. I ended up giving up and going to lay on the beach after an hour because every time I managed to catch a wave there was at least 2 other people on it as well and more often than not people swimming right in the front of the surfing area.
I think the life guards do a great job but there is just no way people should be any where near the sufing area if they have not got a board. Its far to dangerus.
Also with the amount of hired board's / surf schools on most of the main beaches now its about time there was a seperate set of flags for them because they are in the most danger of all, after all most of them spend more time in the water than on the board.
Im not saying im great but the amount of times I really got a good wave and ended up juming off because some kids drop in on me.
rant over, still love newquay. will be back asap.
I think this year we may find some quiter beaches.

One other thing, we spent 3 months in newquay and never saw 1 chopper land on watertgate even though we spent almost every day there. That camrea crew must have been a bad omen!
