Just thought I'd throw in the latest from Mt. Maunganui.

It seems their reef has never been completed due to lack of funding and alleged construction problems. Many local surfers are now allegedly calling for its removal because of allegedly poor quality waves and allegedly dangerous rips. Whether or not these alleged conditions are the result of the reef being left incomplete or the result of a wider design problem who knows.

However, its looking more and more as if Bournemouth is going to be the real test bed for the reef design. Fingers crossed on that one.

At least if it doesn't work, it triggered an entire regeneration of the area anyway.
