hmm croyde v fistral. tricky one
im a devon boy so there's no dispute where my heart lies but its really all about what you want.
croyde, despite also being busy during the anoying summer tourist rush, is a lot quiter on the whole than fistral and alot more consistant with surf (
ie if you get 0 we get 1+ if you get 5 we get 5 i have never seen a report without a figure above 0 for croyde). the spot of rocks inbetween croyde and saunton does provide some of the best surf in the uk all year round even if locals only. the beach and surf can not be argued with at low tide but fistral is more consistant with the tide's. it was after all surf europe magazine who in the june edition said "croyde is home to argaubly the best surfing beach in the uk" (webcam article).
On the other hand if you want to see pro's, go and get lashed with the public school people or want to go for a costal walk after your spot of surfin fistral is undoubtedly for you. dont get me wrong i love fistral and everything about it its without a doubt my second fave beach in the Uk if not the world (bude is't bad either) but nothing can beat the view of croyde on the hill down from saunton (you know ive got a point) and when your at the beach bar after an afternoon low tide sesh pint in hand its almost like being in heaven.
Sorry if ive caused offence to the cornwallers but you gotta love croyde
