Enjoy it... but is freezing! Went out in North Sea at weekend had a rashie and long wet suit on... Prefer it though, less peeps and bigger swells...

Yep, went to Watergate last saturday actually for a surf, only to find 5ft waves crashing on the beach.... but onshore, gale force winds. Had to make do with a walk along the beach, not impressed.

Winter surfing
Mate, with respect! If i wanted my family jewels to be like one of those toys you had as a kid with the two clacking balls on the string i would sit in an ice bath.
Wimp i may be but i dont think freezing my arse off would enhance the enjoyment. I am more than happy with what i get in the warmer weather. Thank you all the same!
Cheese
P.S. I hope i dont offend anyone with this reply! Sorry if i have!!

Its cool (excuse the pun) gettin in there, but gettin out is heaven. A nice warm towel, clothes and car heater on full blast. Sippin steaming coffee from the flask. All adds uo to a perfect day
give me the sea....any time of the year......................

Its cold in Cornwall. I really don't like the cold but I went surfing today and it was great. This year is the first time I have surfed past September.
I am borrowing a friends winter wetsuit, which proved hard to paddle in, but very protective. I bought a thermal rash vest and boots. Getting in is not hard, it doesn't feel so cold. Even getting your head wet is ok, much like summer.
I had a great surf today. It's been stormy for a while, and Fistral and the other exposed beaches are big (6ft) but really messy. Towan beach is sheltered on the right side for todays winds.
The worst part was getting out of the wetsuit. Once the warm layers are seperated from your skin it gets cold realy quickly. I am seriously thinking of selling my car and buying a van. Then I will have a mobile room to get changed in. It will also make cayrying the surfboard a lot easier. I think I will be surfing a while longer whilst the tempratures drop.
