Yeah...saw it in the local paper when i was down there. It might add an extra touch of class to the place, and lets face it, it could be worse...............it could be a Macdonalds!!

Altho I like the guy, the thought appalls me. All the `trendy` brigade will move in, and prices(Carparking, board hire etc) may well go up

Mmm....it would be a shame.I always see Watergate as a hidden treasure from the maddening crowd inh the Summer.I hope it does not kill the spirit of the place.

Is that such a bad thing?

Wouldn't it be better to have the trendy brigade than the beer swilling louts who inhabit Newquay at the moment?

I admit price rises wouldn't be good but a better quality of visitor shorely would.

never thought of that. - still might ruin the "mood" of the place though- kinda "out with the old, in with the new"????

i go with stormrider on this one watergate is fine as it is, as he says its a good getaway when newquay is to busy in the summer. love watergate for what it is i feel anything else especially a poncy jaime oliver resturaunt would attract the wrong kinda crowd

As a surfing beach fine but the current restaurant & bar I've found to full of wannabes & one of the bar staff when I was there needs a real attitude adjustment as I almost dragged him over the bar till the manager apologised for his behaviour.

Unfortunately nothing stays the same forever & as Kernows popularity grows things like this proposal will happen. Jamie Oliver restaurants attract mainly the rich, the snooty or the celeb !!! Just check what happened to my old local The Lewinnick on the Pentire Headland when it all got poshed up ...

Chavs don't dine at Olivers places as the London one proves, so its hardly an influx of Chav's but the car park will be full of more Bentleys & Mercs than there is currently !!!

Rick Stein won't change Fistral no, LOL !!!

But the Blu place has changed Fistral ... not necessarily for the worst but nearly seven quid for two pints is rediculous ... London is cheaper !!!

LOLOL just the though cracks me up, it would make the place look so weird, lovely cafe, extreme academy, bistro and Maccy D's....i dont like the idea of that at all lol. I think watergate is a HUGE beach and i think that even if it does get to big i love it lol
