lol At least the east coast only turns you a nice shade of blue.It can get really cold and as i said once before...when you forget your towel and have to blow dry on top of the cliff with a nice northerly blowing round your shrinking assets,it leaves a lasting impression....not least the one left on any poor innocent passers by

Watergate was my best session. Only 2-3 ft, yet clean and eager to please. Every wave I paddled into would obligingly pick me up and give me a good long ride. Somebody even asked me if I was 'local'! Surfed my heart out that morning in the middle of summer, with only few people out - probably too small for the rest.

This would be my perfect surfing beach if only it got some proper swells more often. I know this is a forum for surf newquay but I cant stand the place, the waves are nothing special either.
Newquay is a bit strange but the waves are a whole lot better than joss wind chop slop, maybe decent swell, banks and change the winds to offshore for once

My local beach is Rest Bay in Porthcawl:

Quality beach and a pretty good place to have a night out as well if you are ever in that area of Wales.
