Daytona Beach Florida
Probabally because it was warm, surfing without a wetsuit is an amazing free experience, and the waves were SO differant!

Sorry Newquay, but I still think The Watersplash at St. Oeun's (sp?), Jersey is one of the best breaks in the UK.

Low tide with a good offshore it's phenominal! Last time I was there the conditions ranged from just overhead to some deep barrels later on (unfortunately my ability didn't let me enjoy them to the full!). Always seemed glassy and clean although I'm informed it's not always like that due to changing wind direction. Guess I was just lucky!!

I've been on Towan when its been 8ft!!!

But best surfing I've ever had wave wise was on Fistral though when it was double overhead + in 2001. In fact I estimated some waves at 15-18ft on the face.

Awesome experience.

Al.

I remember a scary arse paddle out in some high conditions with about twenty minutes to the line up. I remember being absolutely knackered & then terrified when I looked left & right & saw open ocean as I was past the pentire heads on North & South Fistral !!!

Awsome ride back in though after a rest even if a trail of inky brown stuff followed me especially on the take off & charging down the face but once back safely near the beach I didn't go back out as my nerves were shot.

I remember speaking to Andy & TUNNEL VISION a few days later who I remember saying that was some bloody committment on the paddle out as most haddn't bothered on that day.

Can't remember what the approx height was though at the time except its the largest I've ever gone out in.

JossBay - kent

Yep good old Joss Bay is by no way the best but it is my favourite, you got to love your home break, been surfing here 18 years this year still love it even if its as fickle as you like. This would be my perfect surfing beach if only it got some proper swells more often. I know this is a forum for surf newquay but I cant stand the place, the waves are nothing special either.
