Porthtowan beach?!?

Howdy.

I'm confused. In the summer of 2002 me and my mates found a really cool bar called The Blue Bar - http://www.blue-bar.co.uk/ - the bar is virtually right on the beach with high banked cliffs either side, - the beach is not massive, and there is one road in and out to the cove.

My problem is this - We all went to find it again last year but could not, although I can pin some of the blame on our (inept) intuitions and proposterous map-reading skills, see, it's apparently in porthtowan - but on the maps the small cove in porthtown does not have a road going to it so it can't be that. The only place it looks like it could be is in Portreath further down the coast.

Can anyone cast some light on this for me?

The Blue Bar is in Porthtowan, good surf spot, go there via Aggie (St. Agnes)

Also make sure you don't leave anything on show in your car or it'll go missing. There's a part of Porthtowen called "The ghetto" and it's famous for low life.

Nice bar though and the breaks good, seen a few people break boards there.

you're kidding me right?

driving down the road to the beach I was seeing houses dotted about the hillsides on each side and thought to myself that only quite well-off/retired people would live there... then again, I am from up narth so seeing a hidden beach cove emerge at the end of the road from the trees was quite something - especially with a bar right on the beach serving red stripe on tap. ahhh such lovely memories.

how far away is the 'ghetto' from the beach by the way?

It used to be on the right of the road tucked away below the cliff with the road to St Agnes on it. I seem to remember it was going to be knocked down so maybe it has by now Goofy. Been a long time since I've been there to be honest.
