Fistral is more friendly plus North Cornwall coastline is more beautiful than N. Devon's.

Angry SANDY FISTRAL!!!!!!!!!

WELL HI ...VICKY HEH HEH
CROYDE GETS THE THUMBS DOWN EH? GOOD CHOICE BECAUSE ITS GOT A SILLY NAME WHERE AS" FISTRAL " HAS A RATHER RADICAL NAME I THINK . IN FACT VICKY THE NAME IS NOT THE ONLY "RAD" THING ABOUT FISTRAL ...OH NO .THERE IS A LITTLE PLACE THAT I CRASH AT WHEN I'M DOWN , ITS RATHER A WALK TO THE BEACH ITSELF , ITS CHEAP BUT REASONABLY CLEAN I DON'T KNOW IF YOU HAVE HEARD OF "THE HEADLAND MOTEL"NOT BAD IF YOUR ON A TIGHT BUDGET.
HOWEVER NOW HERE COMES A BIT OF A MOAN CONCERNING FISTRAL........THE SAND !!!!! IT GETS EVERYWHERE ,IN YOUR HEADLIGHTS ,SOFT-TOP MECHANISM .IT CAN EVEN DAMAGE YOUR PAINT WORK . WHY PUT SAND NEAR A CAR PARK I ASK YOU , TERRIBLE PLANNING ,TERRIBLE WHY NOT JUST PAVE THE LOT!
ANYWAY VICKY I HOPE WE'VE TOUCHED.........BASE .CIAO

personally i think Croyde is more consistant than Fistral and sometimes gets better waves.

However, Croyde has gnarly waves that are not very forgiving when there is big swell.

So going by this i would have to say Fistral.

I was just looking at the web cam pictures of Fristral and Croyde this morning. And the Croyde waves were loads cleaner and better than Fristral, and Watergate bays.

Talking

After much thought i have decided on Fistral as the people are much more accomadating the locals at Croyde can be a bit over protective (I don't balme them i would be if i was local) I go to Croyde about every month and i like to surf puttsborough instead as there is more shelter creating smaller yet cleaner waves, and the cafe does great bacon baps.

Hvae to say Fistral as it's on my doorstep but I prefer the wave at Croyde. Caught some nice barrels there, something you never get at Fistral.

although i have never surfed croyde, i have to agree with storm rider, it gets well choppy at fistral sometimes, so they waves don't form that well, croyde's look much cleaner(from the pics)!

Hi,

I haven't surfed Croyde (only Fistral) - not good enough especially at low tide when the waves are large, but have spent years looking at both web cams.

Fistral gets the vote for me. Fistral has the largest swell of anywhere in the country because of its perfect aspect to the Atlantic swell. Croyde has cleaner waves that form barrels.

Guess it just depends on what you prefer - sectioning waves or barrels.

PS if we are talking barrels then is Croyde really the best???

There are some pretty trick reef breaks in Wales that produce great looking barrels.

Also, will be interesting to re-ignite this debate after (and if) the artificial reef is built on Great Western - now that would be interesting.

Alsone.
