I did a C&G in photography last year, and have to say, this is a brilliant shot.
Makes you wonder just what the owner of the board is doing in the dunes tho!!

hi seaslave1
Thanks for the kind comment, there's a few little tricks done in photoshop to change the lighting a bit. We were sitting up in the dunes after an afternoons surf session looking over the bay and decided to take a few snaps. I have this one on my living room wall blown quite large.
What kind of photography are you into / doing?

After a mass C**k-up with college and tutors I jacked in the second and third year. It was costing me a bomb and I was getting nowhere. I did get two distinctions for my two portfolios though. How its more of a hobby than anything.
Cant get my head into digital tho. Much prefer the traditional method. and as for preference, I loved portrait, add macro (totally hated landscape). I do have the Photoshop 7.0 package, but have no instructions and cant understand a thing about it. I have played about with it a bit but nothing nearley as good as yours.
Took the digi camera away with us this year, but will be back to the traditional next, unless I can afford a Canon D1 sumwhere along the line, (and maybe a bigger house with room for a darkroom ).

Nah Seaslve you just need a good digital.
I'd never go back to film. If you want an SLR take a look at the Canon 650D. Its about £600 but amazing and there are some good package deals with Canon lenses.
I have 2 compacts, 1 SLR style and the other an ultra compact that fits in my pocket - idea for pubs / clubs / social gatherings.
I presume the bit of digital you can't get your head around is the Photoshoppping as the photography is much the same. If you can take a photo with film, you can take one with digital!
All you need to know is how to sharpen the photo a little, adjust the levels or saturation / contrast if you want individual control, and how to resize. None of these things are that hard and Photoshop Elements (I presume Photoshop as well - have some auto adjustment features that do these things with one click of the mouse (although they don't always get it right)).
Master these and you can then go on to do amazing things like what Microbus has done, but its not essential!
I wish I understood Photoshop more, I can do the above but underuse its potential massively - I only have the elements (cutdown) version.
Al.
PS If it helps I'll post instructions on here on how to do those basic things, just say the word

Hi guys, I'm really pleased with all your comment. it means alot to have other surfer think your stuff is good. I have just set up a discount box on my website so you guys and get 25% off if you do fancy anything. Just put the code surfnewquay into the box in the checkout.
seaslave1, the thing with photoshop is you just have to spend some time with it and play to see what you can do. Have a play with the filters and make sure you move the bars as well as they make a huge difference. Then have a go at using all the options in the image/adjustments menu, theres loads and you can change the look of photos really quickly. if you need any help just shout, most of it is alot simpler than you think.

Have you checked to see if it is still installed?
Instructions for XP.
Firstly go to Start > All Programs and then look in the list that comes up for Photoshop Elements 6.0.
If it doesn't appear to be there:
Go Start > Control Panel >Add or Remove Programs and another list will come up.
If its on your PC it should show in there (don't click anything).
If it shows as on but you just can't find it, then go back to your desktop, click on My Computer > C Drive > Program Files > Adobe > Photoshop 6.0 > In that folder you should find an icon the same as the one on the Adobe box and when you hold your pointer over it (don't click) it should say "application". Right click over this and select from the Menu "Send To" - select "desktop create shorcut".
If you now close all the windows and go back to your desktop you should find this icon copied there.
Double click it and the program should run.
Al.
PS If the contents of any folders are hidden you'll find a box called system tasks in the margin at the left hand side - click on "Show the contents of this folder" and they should appear.
PPS If you still can't find any trace re-post to that extent and we'll see if we can work out why it won't go back on.
