Where to stay, NOT smugglers

righteo basically.......

ok a group of 3 girls (we're all 18) want to go to newquay in july time
think we are going to fly, as its quicker and just the same price as the train
been looking at accomodation, want to camp as its cheaper than hiring a place.

thought smugglers looked great, rang them up, cruised the website
until i read some reviews on "ciao" and it sounds absolutely SH*T complete chav heaven, not called "SMUGGLERS" for no reason.....(the abundance of drug dealers, heroin, the lot young teenagers getting absoltueyl smashed off their faces) and violence and inconsistent security guards who don't give a monkey. i mean yeah its all cheap and that, but not really my scene i dont think!

im no snob but i dont want to stay somewhere where i feel quite unsafe and uncomfortable. ive heard some things about "rosecliston" what is this place like? are there any other cheap places to camp? i know this question probs gets asked millions of times..willing to pay a bit more if needed, or can anyone recommend some good b&bs? looking to stay down there first week of july.

thanks!

Smugglers aint that bad.. Yeahh ok you get the odd tosspot but most of the people seemed friendly and wanted to be there just to enjoy the holiday. You'll find that you wont spend that much time at the site anyway because i presume a group of ladies will be at the beach sunnin it up!

As I've never had to camp can't really say too much on SMUGGLERS or ROSECLISTON. But you hear mixed things as its often the type of people staying, not the place itself that can make or break somewhere.

HENDRA is however a good camping place. I've had friends stay there, colleague going this Monday! Plus from what I've seen its run well when I use to go to the boot sales or markets held there ...

Check their website for prices though by clicking here : HENDRA

The only thing with these sites there not based in Newquay, though they usually run a bus or shuttle service into town & back. There are plenty of B&B's in town though near the beaches. Someone recently went to stay at GOOFYS on HEADLAND ROAD, though they never gave a review but again seems nice & when I'm home I often pass it on my way to & from FISTRAL!

Check their website here : GOOFYS

I wouldve said the boarding house right by fistral on head land road, that place was awesome, but now being turned in more flats. I reckon newquay will be mini surfers paradise soon! Oh well these are the winds of change and what not.

HEADLAND ROAD has loads of places to be honest you can stay which all look okay. Problem is NEWQUAY is being ruined with so many of these flats going up as BLOCK mentioned & there just not selling either ...

There was a story recently that out of sixteen (rough figure) flats in this particular block, only one was full time occupied

Plus you now have the holiday flat blocks where you can stay in them for a maximum of 50 weeks a year, but they must be vacant for the other two !?!! How is that checked ???

The sky line & views & overall look of the town is just getting worse & worse ...

When I return home I WON'T be living in what is now essentially a **** hole.

yeah its all second home owners buying these places, its all fine when they come down here in thier 4x4s reading the new copy of cornwall/devonlife complaining about the farm smells/noises/methods of transfering cows from one field to another but come winter time when they head back to citys our towns are left empty with local shops and services etc suffering the lack of custom. One day these places will be ghost towns.
