Best Roof Rack?

Hi,

I was wondering what the best roof rack was for my VW Golf (2005 model)? Don't want to spend too much money. Any recommendations?

Thanks Edd.

just got a Thule roof rack for a 2004 civic - should fit a golf. it cost abour £65 all up plus more fot fitting if you get it done at a garage. bought this one from halfords - they have loads of different types. just go in and ask and they'll tell you exactly which one will fit your golf

You could have a look on E Bay and see if they have any VW roof bars on there. I bought my Seat Leon bars off there and got them for 40 quid. they are 120 from Seat.

Just makesure that you tie your board / boards down securely as I had two boards fly off the top of my car at the weekend!!!! Very frightening!!!!

Surprisingly the boards were fine!!!! How I dont know!! It was on the stretch of road between Watergate bay and Newquay, on the only stretch where you can park on the verge without cusing a traffic jam!!! How they didnt hit the cars behind me i dont know either!!

It was my fault really, i was a bit slack in strapping them on properly and a gust of wind caught them. I do have a scratch on my boot lid from one of the boards but it should t cut out...........i hope; its a new car!!!

Does anyone know whether you can buy a toast rack style board carrier for cars?? I am sure i have seen one but i have done a load of surfing on the net and cant find one. Me and a mate are thinking about building our own!!!!!

Al
