How AMAZING is this Surfboard

I just read this article on this incredible surfboard at www.productdose.com. Has anyone gone to the Full Circle Show at Newquay's Fistral Beach and seen this thing? Has anyone ridden it? I would love to take this thing out for a couple of sets.

Watch out for full article on this baby. In the meantime, see photo of me (on the left) clutching this board in Eden Project's tropical dome on my recent exclusive tour of the whole place and with no other living soul in sight. Perks of the job - huh!

Saw the board last week while I was on Fistral. Great idea but have heard its a bit heavier than the present day ones, and some of the pro's arent too keen as it doesn't turn quite as fast.

Just been reading an article in my SAS newsletter, which says its still in the experimantal stages and hopefully can be improved on. They are even trying a balsa wood one, covered with the eco-friendly resins, so maybe that will be another one to watch out for.

I remember making something at school with balsa wood, very easy to work with...............maybe the next experiment is MINE...........HA.HA.HA (Mad scientist laugh )

This is the balsa wood one, with tree grown inside the Eden dome, some yards away from the spot where above photo was taken. It also uses plant derived resin and it is very expensive to make. But hey, so were early surfboards - and they were heavy as well. This is a good start and I too hope things will be improved and refined from here on.

Had TV on at tea time a few weeks ago and they had a young lad testing this in Cornwall on Newsround.

I gather the idea behind it is to save the environment from all the nasty chemicals that go into traditional Surfboard production.

Like Seaslave just said (I just read her post after posting my comment above - I'll leave it in anways) it is supposed to be quite a bit heavier than a more traditional glass board.

Al.

Hey Seaslave, had the annual hols again then - what did you think to Newquay this year?

Alsone!!!

[OFF TOPIC]

I was hoping to see you again in here after post-Battlefield 2 release fever went down a bit. What a graphical treat it is as well. On your advice I got 1942 etc, but could not get used to it - looked too dated for newbie to start liking it. But 2? Mama!!!

Yeah its great albeit it doesn't play as well as 1942 in that although player movement is improved there's just something missing with BF2.

That said its still enjoyable and like you say great graphics and effects.

Hope you've got a good pc though - I built a brand new custom PC specially for BF2 (after 6 months of frantic e-baying) and its a good job I did as that game eats graphic cards and memory for breakfast!

I can run everything on HIGH which is nice but had to upgrade even my new set up to 2GB of memory to avoid lagging and my 6800GT graphics card only just cuts it at times when things get heavy on some servers - boy what a system hog. Only thing its light on is CPU which if I'd known I'd probably got a smaller CPU and spent more on graphics.

To anyone with a lower spec system reading this, you can run it on much lower specs - just have to turn the settings down.

What name do you play under Ivan?

I might see you around some time - I play stateside a lot a night but UK / close EU in the day.

Al.

PS I'll try and upload a nice screenie for the benefit of those who don't play it.

Some screenies - seperate this to a new topic if you want Ivan as I think we've hijacked this a bit!

For all those who've not played Battlefield 2 - this is a 64 player online game!!

Haven't got any action shots as took these quickly to get them on here fast.

Map in the shots below is FuShe - Game has 12 maps in totals.

Map in these shots is Gulf of Oman

For anyone who takes a fancy to trying the game, there's a free demo download available that lets you play Gulf of Oman online - you can get it here:

http://www.eagames.com/official/batt.../downloads.jsp

Go to Demos section - you might also need to install the patch afterwards - not sure for the demo - guess answer is try it without and if can't connect install the patch.
