There was somewhere but I saved this from it:

http://www.xshelton.com/users/kathy/balance_board/

Make your own!

Only hard part to come across is the piping with end stops as that bore is very expensive to buy albeit a lot less expensive than a whole board. Around £20-25 for the pipe + end stops from what I can see and you have to buy like a 3-4m length!!

I've been going to make one but haven't found a source of piping yet and I'm not forking out £25 for the pipe!!

I was thinking about investing in one, but after seeing that link i reckon i'll deffinately make one instead of splashing out, the 'real' one is pretty highly priced for what it is, in my opinion that is.
Had a go on one the other week at Tunnel Vision, almost landed on my arse several times, good fun tho and good practice.

The four inch wide hand rail of the local footbridge over the M25 is a particulary useful, if not somewhat severe way, to help improve your balance at an eighth of the price ...

Especially on a dark, cold & windy night

If you find a good source of cheap offcuts of piping let me know.

Difficult to tell what piping she used (perhaps she'd tell you if you e-mailed her) but its obviously got to be between 4-6 inch bore (in instructions) and thick walled (because of the weight it has to bear).

My guess would be some kind of guttering downpipe or underground drainige pipe - latter being stronger. I've yet to see flush internal fit end caps for a pipe of this description in the UK - needs some investigating.

If you find a cheap source let me know!!

not yet Alsone, when i looked into it the parts from B&Q it would have come to around £35 so i left it, i still intend to do it when i find the right bits cheaper. I think the pipe is going to be the biggest pain cus you can only get it in big lengths.

You should try a construction yard and ask for some off cuts

Hey Microbus,

I found some piping:

Got it free as well and it includes end stops.

Basically its 6 inch diameter water main (which also means its extremely strong - 1/2 inch thick walls). You can literally jump up and down on it and it doesn't bend.

I got it off some workmen who were installing a new water main near my home. I just asked if they had an offcut, they didn't but were going to cut the pipe anyway so they cut me a length. The end stops are used once then thrown away (looks like they were going to bury them in the hole!) so I asked for those as well.

Guess you just need to find some workmen now!!!
