moving to newquay

hi all, i am currently in the process of moving down to newquay. got a little 8 month old and me and the wife have decided that we would like him to grow up in a nice place.

got a few questions though, where is the best place to look to find a house to rent? also, what are you locals like with new people moving down to newquay? im sure it must get on your nerves having loads of people moving down there.

any advice anyone could give me would be much appreciated.

thanks

hi buddyboy
its kimberly you wrote to me so i wanted to see if i could help you. i have just moved here myself, the locals all seem real nice, i don't think its just because i'm a girl, i think if your your head is in a good place then newquay will be wicked. if you know the area then it will be easy, if not then check out Perranporth, its very chilled, also if you have a cute little 8 month old then everyone is gonna love you, as for cheap places to rent, just outside of newquay or perran the prices fall big time. all will be cool, i,m sure you will land on your feet.

Dude Welcome to the forum ...

Many people take the step to move to some area of Kernow, Hastings isn't a bad place but there is a large element round there that's not so nice but you get that anywhere.

Just make sure you have enough cash set aside as you'll be expected to pay a deposit & a month up front in rent so if you have a job to go straight into then all the better - especially if you have a family to support.

Use the search facility on this forum using key words like 'moving' to check other threads etc.

If your moving to Newquay itself then avoid Pentire as prices are very high (this is where I come from) but further up or down the coast is cheaper like Porth or as already mentioned Perranporth ... thought they can be a little remote without your own transport.

Though its off the coast places like Truro, Redruth are also a good move & Wadebridge too.

As ET says, I moved here 7 years plus ago and moved to Newquay to begin with, 3 years in Pentire. It was a cool surfy place back then, not any more Rents are sky high and wages are minimum wage. I now live a little further down the coast where rents are cheaper, more things in life than feeding the greedy landlord. Still only 10 mins drive away from Newqauy to ses peeps etc.

Give us a shout if you need help mate.

Hi All,

am in middle of moce to Newquay now! Slightly scarey as got house sorted, got family sorted, I just have to get the business moved now!!! Lucky forward to waking up and hearing the sea instead of hearing the M$ and the traffic heading for London, this way I dont have to worry about my lil boy breathing in all the rubbish in the air now and he can grow up with a cornish accent lol well it will be better than his dads.
