surfboard for a 10 yr old

surfboard for a 10 year old beginner

my little brother has done a surf school in ireland this summer and he really enjoyed ot and is apprently doing pretty well he likes it so much he says he wants his own board so he can practice before next summer lol

so im thinking about buying him a board for xmas i know theyre not cheap but i really dont know what im looking for

hes about 5 stone and 145cm tall ish

what type of board ?
what size ?
how much roughly ?

any help would be appreciated

Sorry,i was not paying attention to the board.I would suggest buying a good foamy board,which is what i intend to do for my Son.With a foamy with children,it builds up there confidence.Then as they get older and better,then you can splash out on a better board.

What does anyone else think?.

I agree stormy,just keep that interest to begin with and progress as needed.A foamy will be ideal to start on and once skills improve then advice can be sought from good surf shops,websites etc.No point splashing out the cash till you see how he progresses.Just reading Kelly Slaters autobiog and foamies are where he started.Aw could also prob put you in touch with his mates....the experts,so to speak.
