Cremation becomes promession
I heard yesterday that the traditional cremation of bodies may well be turned on it's head by the introduction of a new process called 'promession'.
Due to EU regs that prohibit the burning of mercury and subsequent release into the atmosphere, crematoriums are facing MASSIVE costs to install special filters in the cremation process.
Thinking about it, cremation is just a way of turning the body to ash so that it can be scattered. The new process involves dipping the body in liquid nitrogen at around -196 degrees C, then vibrating it. As it becomes so brittle, the vibrations just turn it to dust. A magnetic field is then applied to remove any artificial joints, fillings, etc. and the remaining dust is then released for scattering.
Sounds pretty cool, eh? So if smoke is going back to God, does this new process with nitrogen mean a cold day in hell
