Moving to Newquay

Hi,
Think of moving to Newquay Winter '08, and wondered what your thought are of us 'outsiders'
Currently in Kent, but my borther and I are looking to buy a B&B/Lodge in Newquay to move near to the parents as they retired to Liskeard a few years back and it's a pain in the arse having to drive 5 hours each way to say hello to them, and the fact Cornwalls' a lot better place to be than with the chav culture in in the south east.
We know Newqauy quite well as have been going a couple of times a year for the last 5-6yrs, and generally know Cornwall well as have been going for 20 years+
Reading some of the posts on this and other forums there are mixed feeling about people moving into Cornwall, taking jobs, increasing house prices etc, and we wondered if we would actually be welcomed in to the community or treated as english scum ! We're not the sterotypical 'Ben Sherman brigade' or 'what you looking at' type of people, just normal brothers from a small village in Kent, pretty much like Tintagel but without the sea air !!
Thanks
Tim

To be quite honest fella most of those of us born here are just happy like everyone else to have nice neighbours, even if there not originally from Cornwall.

Its when you get places ROCK opposite PADSTOW where the houses have been bought out by the real 'wealthy' types who when they come down act like lord of the manor that get resented. But you'd have that anywhere.
It's the bloody kids at the student/boarding school age when the 'Tarquin's' or 'Charlotte/Agatha' types come down to use Daddies quaint property that again causes trouble with the locals ....

(Great story & about knocking three into the harbour at Padstow quite a few years ago - but not for on here!)

I work in London currently & lodge in the NW Kent area so I probably know where you come from anyway as I get all over the place! Can't think of a Tintagel type place in Kent though!
