Question New Wetsuit.

Hey everyone, Ive had my eye set on an Xcel wetsuit for a while now, ive got a choice of two...

1: Xcel 4mm infiniti drylock hooded. (£214)

2: Xcel 5/4mill infiniti X-zip (£240)

Id like to wear this wetsuit through winter and summer seeing as i am a tynemouth surfer and its not that warm up here.

would i get stinky in a drylock in the summer? and will the hood happily sit at the back of my neck when i dont need it? i already have a seperate cap/hood which has served me well, but for teh price of this drlylock it seems too tempting.

what does anyone think??

i kind of need replies quick as they are running short of stock!

Cheers

Dave

Never had or worn a drylock, if I wanted to stay dry I wouldn't get in the water.
I've surfed with the hood down and it did my head in as it just kept filling will water and was like a lead weight around my neck.

I'd do some more looking round as those suits are alot of money, you could buy yourself a summer and winter suit for that money. I surf North sea and from April/ May right through to end of November bginning of December I'm in a 3/2.

Hope this helps

ha. thanks. just fancied a quality one with a decent seem guarantee on it that will last me years. the SCR one i have at the min has lasted me a few years now and that was 1/2 the price of an Xcel one. but its completely falling to bits now. and it barely keeps me warm anymore.

I'l take your advice on the hood then for sure.

cheers

I surf at Tynemouth in a 3/2 all year round....but its cold in Jan and Feb time. I have a 3/2 drylock and they are a good suit. If you go for a 4mm, you may be ok in the winter, but a 5mm in the summer....you'll be too hot!

Consider a Rhino Stealth 5/3 front zip..

They're supposed to be made in the same factory as Xcell and the front zipped ones bear more than a passing resemblance to the Dry Loc at a fraction of the price - RRP £159 current sale price £139.

The surf instructors from a leading body have been wearing these and many have said to me in their opinion, they're the best suits on the market right now.
