Fallen in love with Newquay

OK... I'm a shy Truro lad and I haven't been to many places outside of there. Truro feels so claustrophobic and I'd love a little more freedom and hopefully some adventure.

I visited Newquay for the first time since I was small a couple of years ago and it blew me away. I love the sea and the atmosphere was fantastic. Since then I've been out there a dozen times, but it's not enough.

I've never tried surfing before, but I'd like to have one go at least. Like I said, I'm shy and I feel a bit self-contious at the moment. I think I'd prefer to wait for it to get a bit warmer too.
There are many other things about Newquay I'd like to discover. I have a few good friends but they don't like Newquay for some reason and never want to go. Sometimes I wonder if they have something wrong with their balls.

To cut a long story short - I'm looking for advice from young people around my age (24) on where to go and what to do to for a good time. I've been to a few clubs but the nightlife isn't much fun on your own. (Curse my testiclularly-challenged friends!)

PS If anyone saw a girl dressed as a robot fall down some stairs in the Springbok at New Year 2003 - that was my workmate Shelley.

Well me old mucker, I'm in the same boat as you. I have just come back from Newquay and I have fallen head over heels with the place! I am the same age as you (24). I was hoping somebody could give me some advice on where I could find a summer job? I'm sick of London! People here are too rude, too busy, just ****ers basically. I need some suggestions on accomodation as well.

Please help

Hey

i'm in a similar boat to you guys this year and have had some really helpfull advice from the guys on this forum over the past few days.

Check out http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/ for jobs

and http://www.roombuddies.com/sign-in.php for rooms/house shares etc

The best way overall though seems to be good ol' elbow grease... get to newquay and look in the shop window (op bus station) and search the local papers.

Hope this helps.

If you guys find something that may help me too please pm me.

Thanks

Well I have to sort out somebody to stay in my flat here first in sunny Essex. Man I hate this shit hole. I can't wait to bugger off to Newquay! Are you looking to stay here for just the summer or longer term?

Welcome to the forum peeps.

There is a sticky in the General Chat section you should take a look at about coming to Newquay and finding work etc.

so many people each year with this question. i myself have asked but never taken the plunge.

if i were to (and hopefully will one day) go to newquay be it for the summer, i'd probably just drive down with some spare clothes and a bank card. work is so easy to get if you don't mind doing anything. shouldn't be to hard to find somewhere to stay though it may take a few nights staying in your car.

one day i will attempt this. probably when i don't slave myself for tesco

Ahhh I know it well. I'm from Gravesend. Such a lovely place, well it used to be. Did you know that chavs originated from Chatham? So why don't you just take the plunge and go to Newquay? We could all get a massive house and share with everybody on here. How cool! Only messing. Seriously though, you should just do it. You only live once. Your a long time dead as my Grandad says

The place where the plague finished if i remember correctly. Use to have a great market there as well near the river.

I believe from others its quite a nice place for a good curry as there is a very large Asian community in this area.

If you knew it fifteen years ago then you wouldn't be saying that now unless they've cleaned up & shipped the chav's out in the last four weeks since I was home !!!
