Red face Water temperature - when is it too cold?

Hi, everyone
A couple of mates and I are considering going to do a beginners' weekend course in St Ives in early December. Are we insane? Is the water just too cold for all that falling in at this time of year? Should we wait until late spring next year? Thanks for any advice!
