hmm

For british weather a wet suit is idea, Go in Skins and loose about 50 layers

I first started with a 3.2 last August and it was nice, this year I went in May and april and my 3.2 wasent cutting it so I bought a 5.4.

My friend got a 5.4 when we went in may for like 90 pounds which is good, you can find nice deals but I surppose anything over 4.8 is a dead cert.

top advice. i dont know any tech stuff about wetsuits but i can say that it would have to be a seriously good session to distract you from the immense cold of cornish sea lol. however i did buy a posh neoprene rashi by xcel which is reasonably thick and that and boardshorts will do you for a few hours, but it was £50 which isnt far off wetsuit money.

Credit to your Mum - she's got a point!

Unless you have a habit of sleeping in your fridge you'll want a wetsuit... Water is warmish by UK standards in September as it has been blessed by sunshine on its travels to our shores... A 3/2 would do the job although if you're a complete beginner you're probably as well heading to one of the surf schools and booking lessons and kit hire for your stay... Might seem pricey, but the instructors will get you to your feet quicker than trial and error and if you ding / tear anything kit wise you just give it back, smile innocently and say "Oops!"

It's difficult to accessorise round a wetsuit too, so it's probably a good idea to get the Bug before spending your money on all the kit and deciding you cup of tea is a little different!
