another new girl!

Hi, just thought I'd come and introduce myself, I think this is where I'm meant to do it...sorry if I'm in the wrong place!
I went to Newquay a month ago and had a couple of surf lessons but I didn't manage to stand up. Does this mean I'm not ever going to pick it up, I'm not 'destined' to surf? Or should I keep at it?

Yeah Keep going.

Very few people pick it up immediately and the ease with which you can stand depends on a wide range of factors from the board which they gave you, through the quality of the instruction, to the surf conditions at the time. Believe it or not weak conditions can actually be harder to learn in than a good push as the board is less stable the slower its travelling.
