Bite the Bullet

Ok so it's about time I stopped just watching surfing and actually had a go. So I want to go later this year or beginning of next so it ain't so busy (Bit shy!), have checked out some of the other threads in this section and Escape and Quicksilver seemed to be the only ones mentioned. Quicksilver only seem to run in the summer and I have emailed Escape for some more details but any others worth concidering and any other info would be cool.

Also I'm not the best swimmer in the world, don't get me wrong I don't sink but I think I had better get my skinny butt down the pool and get abit stronger but what should I be looking at to play it safe? Do you know what I mean or am I just talking S*%T?

Cheers.

Hi buddy. i just got back from the BLUEWINGS surf school. was pretty good. it was my first time ever and was a little nervous. but to be honest the parts of the beach where you have the lessons will be full of people in the same position as yourself. and everybody is falling off and stuff.

but do it.. it'll be a life changing couple of days..

with regards to the swimming, its probably a good idea to get some practise in. i can comfortable do about 100m without getting too tired, but half or even quarter that distance when your in the sea! trust me

its probably best to get some practise in. no point geting into trouble i he witer when there are no lifeguards around!

I second that what Mojo says... in the sea the currents and strength of the sea tire you out so even for a strong swimmer like me its hard going sometimes.. i dont surf but go for it and dont worry bout falling off.. its the taking part that counts

Hope you have a really good time

I learnt to surf this year and i tell you something, you dread falling off but when you do you laugh, and when you stand up and know your falling of you just think 'Oh Here Goes' but what me and my mates did was whenever we fell off we would really over exaggerate it, it made us laugh and the instructors!
