BBHQ is a dead good shop - dave (the guy running the place) is really helpful and he'll talk to you for however long you want about bodyboarding. he's obsessed

basically, the first thing you wanna be learning is take-offs. positioning yourself at the right place on the wave is the most important thing really as in the long run you'll save a lot of energy if you're in the right place instead of having to paddle around a lot!
as for tricks...just try a few when you feel like you can

the three sixty bodyboard manual is actually really good for tricks as is watching bodyboard dvds.
