Question New Bodyboarder---HELP!

Hey. Im getting my first board package on the weekend at BB HQ in Poltreath. What should be the first thing to learn? How long should it be before I start trying tricks and what ones? Thanx in advance to anyone who helps.

BBHQ is a dead good shop - dave (the guy running the place) is really helpful and he'll talk to you for however long you want about bodyboarding. he's obsessed
basically, the first thing you wanna be learning is take-offs. positioning yourself at the right place on the wave is the most important thing really as in the long run you'll save a lot of energy if you're in the right place instead of having to paddle around a lot!
as for tricks...just try a few when you feel like you can the three sixty bodyboard manual is actually really good for tricks as is watching bodyboard dvds.
have fun with your new board and remember....spongers do it lying down

Couldn't of said that better myself !

Take offs & then once you've mastered that just positioning on the board so you can cut, turn & head across the glass of the wave preferrably with the break (or mush) behind you!

Then try tricks from there.

Welcome to the forum by the way
