Boardless

Was down in Newquay Wed-Fri last week, Bic 7'3".

I live West Midlands which makes Newquay at best a once a fortnight trip (4hr drive either way...) & I'd only do that trip for a 1/2/3 night stopover.

South Wales breaks are an hour away, looking to surf Porthcawl for odd daytrips.

Want to progress with a shortboard that would work for both breaks all year round.

Suggestions for size?

all about wave count!

Hey ho, you could go for something like a 6'10" fish with lots of float but don't go too short too soon and stop having fun, keep your old board too for defo. Ps the guys usually getting most of the waves at Porthcawl are on longboards, its a pretty mellow wave

Thanks for the suggestion buddy, been keeping an eye on cheap 2nd hand boards coming and going on ebay (if I fail miserably on the wrong board atleast the wallet won't complain...)

Would a 6'4"x19.5"x2.5" be suitable? It's sub £100 (with a few patched dings)

Also, bearing in mind what you said about Porthcawl are there any recommended consistent spots for better surf along the South Wales coast?
