Polzeath aint bad!
For some reason Polzeath seems to get slagged off a bit for its supposedly rubbish surf. OK so if you go on a general day its not exactly Fistral, but i go down there for days after days in the summer and there is consistant breakers. I'd say most days Polzeath can be found at a decent height, it has its lows like any other beach, but I have been there a few times where the surf must have been pretty damn high. Its also great if your learning to surf because the waves, although not huge, are consistant and can be of a decent height for days on end if your taking a course. There is also one of Cornwalls best and most renound surf schools (Surf's Up Surf School) who operate out of the beach, an extreamly welcoming and friendly bunch in my experience! So, although the surf isn't always up to much, and it gets a bit packed in the summer I think polzeath's still a pretty decent beach, though probably not for the more experienced surfers unless............................................ ......................(This bits for all the more experienced surfers who just read that and thought " What a load of ********)
What you may not realise is that Polzeath is the VERY LAST BEACH ON THE NORTH CORNISH COAST TO CLOSE!!! So, if the other more popular breaks are absolutley huge and unridible chances are the more sheltered Polzeath is PERFECT! And not a lot of people know that..................
Enjoy

Polzeath is my local beach, i have surfed there since i was knee hgh to a grasshoper
Its quite a slow wave, never really gets steep, but its a great place to surf, BUT in the summer tends to get over-crowded but plenty of secret spots near by to run too.

Gotta agree with Miss Bunty here, good surfing spot, nice locals, never gets too overcrowded this time of year. Though i've had a near scrape here in really large surf (11-13ft), i would go back again and will do when i got all my stuff again, but not in surf that big!
Never again

Surf's Up!!!
I went on holiday to Polzeath last summer, it was my first time surfing. I have to say a BIG thank you to the (SURF'S UP) Surf School..., especially "Mic" the Aussie dude, who helped me acheive my dream of surfing....cheers mate. It's a great place to learn the art, the waves are perfect for the beginner surfer, especially the younger ones, who will find it less intimidating due to it's slower breakin waves. I'm sure this place could knock out some heavy surf on the right day! I come from East Scotland, where there is some serious surf.........i never knew you could surf in Scotland, 'but hey', you learn something new every day.
You are some lucky people in Cornwall, you have some great beach's, and the best weather this Country has to offer, Polzeath has a special place in my heart,'it's where i caught my first wave!

Surf Polzeath
Really enjoyed the surf up there, especially having to travel up from the south coast of Cornwall for a decent wave. Anyone picked up a bug from the water in Polzeath? Been ill couple of times now (sore throats etc). Prefer the Winter period, less of a crowd. Would like to thank the locals for being so cool and friendly.

I love Polzeath. Taught my kids to surf there. Its probably my nearest reliable break. gets a bit crowded during the season but been there plenty of times in the winter and had it all to ourselves. Done Christmas morning there for the last couple of years and summer solstice too -surfing 10 o'clock at night with your kids, how cool is that
