THEFTS OF SURFERS' VEHICLES IS A PROLIFIC PROBLEM IN NEWQUAY. IT IS WELL KNOWN THAT SURFERS PARK THEIR CARS AND HIDE THEIR KEYS UNDER WHEEL ARCHES OR IN EXHAUST PIPES OR OTHERWISE AROUND THEIR VEHICLES. THEY THEN ENTER THE WATER TO ENJOY A SURFING SESSION ONLY TO RETURN AND FIND THEIR CAR HAS BEEN STOLEN. COUNTLESS SURFERS HAVE HAD THEIR DAYS RUINED BY SUCH INCIDENTS.

THIEVES ARE OPERATING IN NEWQUAY AND WILL STEAL YOUR CAR IF YOU TRY TO HIDE YOUR KEYS IN OR AROUND YOUR VEHICLE. PLEASE SECURE YOUR KEYS. THERE ARE PRODUCTS ON THE MARKET TO ENABLE YOU TO CARRY YOUR KEYS AND BANK CARDS IN YOUR RASH VESTS. ALTERNATIVELY LEAVE YOUR KEYS IN SECURE KEY STORES AVAILABLE IN CERTAIN AREAS AROUND THE BEACHES. WE ARE DOING ALL WE CAN TO APPREHEND AND PROSECUTE OFFENDERS, BUT IT IS UP TO YOU TO SECURE YOUR PROPERTY. PLEASE BE VIGILANT AND DO NOT BECOME A VICTIM TO SUCH AN OPPORTUNIST THIEF.
