When i was in NQY i brought "The Surfing Tribe - A history of surfing in britain" and it is brilliant! I haven't been able to put it down, its a very interesting book and some of the things it tells you are amazing.
you can get them in pretty much most shops and its £24.99 - I would recommened strongly
