Hi, Roxy,
I can see how you thought Blue Crush was the best surf film you've see, if its the only one you've seen. It is hailed on the cover as the 'hottest teen movie of the year'.
I have six DVD's with a surf theme, and here is a short synopsis:-
Have to start with my fave movie
Point Break . An action film about an FBI undercover agent, trying to track down a gang of bank robbers in Calafornia. This film has a bit of everything, but the passion for surfing, from the bank robber is outstanding. Starring Keanu Reeves & Partick Swayzee. Beautifully shot, but it is an 18 so maybe you wont get to see it. Easy to get hold of too. (18)
Big Wednesday is a movie about a group of guys growing up in the surfing community, and their friendships and love-lives. Story can be a bit shaky at times, but a brilliant watch for an old 70's movie. (PG)
In God's Hands. An extreme surfing movie, bout friends travelling round surfing, trying to avoid gettin in trouble with the locals. Beautifully shot in places like Bali, Mexico, Madagascar and Hawaii. Not my fave, but worth a watch. Fantastic surfing scenes (12)
Endless Summer I & II. These two are docu-films. Endless Summer I, is a 1964 classic, bout two longboarders taking (a long) time out ( a whole summer to be exact), to travel worldwide, searching for the perfect wave. A very long documentary, but it is such a brilliant film, you cant help but feel chilled when watching it. Endless Summer II, was the long awaited sequel. Again searching the ultimate wave, worldwide. These guys travel from Australia to Alaska, and also includes bits from surfing heros, Gerry Lopez, Nat Young, Tom Curren, Kelly Slater and Tom Carrol. (U)
Both beautifully (and naturally) shot. Great soundtracks too. Well worth investing in.
So...there you are Roxy, sumthin to add to your Christmas list. All these DVD/Video's are available from either
www.amazon.co.uk or
www.play.com
Have fun hunny.
