Reading matter??
Dudes,
christmas comes but once a year... and when it does it brings up that old chestnut "what can i get my bro?".
this year i thought maybe some literature regarding the wonderful world of surf.
does anyone know of any good reccomendations? (we're both beginners, so learning to surf and guides to good beaches would be cool ideas!)

Hi there,
On your subject of great reads, one of my faves must be 'In search of Captain Zero' by Allan C. Weisbecker. If you want a book that will take you on a daring journey into the unknown, while providing insight into our own wrestle with conscience and social rules, than this is the one. The authors decides to sell his home in the north east USA, and embark on a road trip to central
America, looking for his friend that he met in the surf back home, and had some great times together. This is a true story, so you are not going to find over the top imaginative plots in here, but it will still provide you with an exciting read.

I'm reading that just now but only on like page 20 or something, it seems pretty cool though.

Correction: Ceej is only trying to reach the title of 'Chief Executive Officer' in this forum, and I don't blame him as it is a very sought after status. Ian, if you carry on like this, you are well on your way to achieve greatness .

Oh, it’s me again. One more thing. The book that I enjoyed was "Caught Inside" by Daniel Duane.
Book starts with the author packing his boring job in, and deciding to spend a year surfing on the Californian coast.
This is the beginning of the book:
"It's awfully dark when you're drowning in cold water, or at least it struck me that way. Claustrophobic from filling lungs, agoraphobic from the void below, I felt as if watching a celestial scattering of my own ashes: awestruck, and lonely. The waves holding me under were big enough, but my impending death had more to do with how little now about them. I'd let go of my surfboard, a great flotation device (its leash attached to my ankle), because holding it was like was like holding a sail in the windstorm: too much surface area..."
