a little information on living in newquay requested
hi
ive never used this board before, so id better introduce myself.
im lisa, 24, originally from south africa, but hav been living in london for the past 4 yrs.
in south africa, i grew up on the beaches of the kwazulu/natal south coast. i was just a little body boarder, but i loved the sea and at 10yrs of age would swim out to where the surfers would wait for waves and dive deep under the waves. this was before i discovered horses and the closest i got to the beach was on the back of a horse at top speed after that!
so, to get to the point. im incredibly fed up with london. im just not a city slicker. i miss the seaside and i miss the wind off the ocean, and i miss sand between my toes. i miss hearing the sound of waves and i miss the friendliness of people who liv in places like that.
im considering moving down to newquay as ive heard its the best place to be for what im looking for. but ive not been down there yet (i will do! soon as i can!). so, any advice or information that anyone can giv me on what its like to liv down there, job prospects (anything from bar work to farm work, even office work if i hav to, but the aim is to get out of working in the office).
please feel free to wax lyrical about your lovely town
lisa

Hi there! Good to read that there are some people feeling like myself. I am from Portugal, 28, just arrived yesterday from a week at home and I could cry. I miss the sun, the endless views over the coastline, nightlife in Lagos, meeting people from everywhere in the world. Now I am back to reality here in London. Well, the good thing is I will be back in Portugal soon. Lisa, Zoodyman, if you ever have the chance to go to the Algarve let me know. Surf is great, people amazing and the food is to die for.
Is somebody of you planning to go to Newquay on a coming weekend? I would love to go surfing and it would be great to meet some people from London who share the same dreams. Bye for now.

I say if you get half a chance pack in your job and move there now. It may not be the hottest place in the world but its our place....

LOL, Sorry a little late getting a reply in, been busy with work I'll email you more info later.
The only way to move down here at the moment is to come down and take the chance. Places hire daily so you really need to be here to get your foot in. As for places to live that is differcult at the moment as the summer lets are everywhere at silly prices, best bet is to stay at a backpackers to begin with.
Take it easy, mail you later.

Huh, you think you lot are far away! I live 365 miles away so my only trip is for two weeks in the summer, and that definitely is not enough for me. I watch the mileometer like a hawk, but I've been so many times, I can tell by the landmarks, how long it will be before I get there. It usually takes us between 5-7 hours (depending on the traffic, but somehow, it always takes less time to get home. Why is that, it's not like i'm in a rush to get home.

Hey been sorting some stuff out so just gotta chance to catch up on whatz been going on here, well Lisa if your looking for a flatmate I could do with the company but i'm moving to Newquay in three weeks so gonna be heading down in the next couple of days to check out whatz on the property market, also love horses and thinking of bringing mine with me, expensive I know but you gotta do what you feel is right, and although daunting moving to a new place I don't think you can get anywhere better than Newquay and i've lived in this country for 22 years and having checked out most of it, when you go to Newquay its a different world........
