I am working for a British television production company called Summer Films. We are currently making a documentary series (for the Discovery Channel Worldwide) about extreme natural phenomenon, and the people that get a kick out of them – in particular one of our programmes focuses on big wave surfing. Hi James,

I am not a big wave surfer, but i know quite a few that live near me. I live in Hossegor, France and La Nord the big wave here attracts loads of crazy guys.

When the swell is big people fly in from all over to surf it, there is another spot just down the coast called Avalanches which can get bigger. Guys towing in is run of the mill these days.

We have a surf lodge in Capbreton and would be happy to put you up in big wave season if you are planning to be in the area.
