British Interclub Championships 2003 - Woolacombe beach, Devon.
Croyde retain British title.
Croyde surf club retained their national title in an exciting and close contest over the weekend of 1st and 2nd of November. For the second year running the contest produced a tie with two clubs equal on points at the end of the two day event and a 'surf off' was arranged, last year Croyde beat Welsh club Channel Coast to break the tie but this year it was local rivals Woolacombe who tried in vain to break the iron grip that Croyde have on the trophy.
Twelve teams from all over the country took part in good two to four foot waves but it was the local teams of Woolacombe and Croyde who set the pace, with Woolacombe leading the field at the end of the first day. The contest relocated to Puttsborough beach on Sunday to take advantage of the cleaner conditions and the top four teams went head to head. There were some excellent performances from Croydes Matt Jenkins and Ossian Pleasance, Woollacombes Neil Clifton and Nick Thorn, Porthlevens Sam Boex and Wessex's Terry Crump.
