i know i know, but its just i've got pressures from work and family etc. i'm the first one to go traveling and i'm not exactly overwhelmed with support . never mind. i just want out as i'm getting it in the ear 24/7 about how stupid it is to go traveling, and i need a career and a stable background..... blah!!

anyway. i'm flying into sydney after a 10 day stop in bangkok, the moving north up the gold coast (i'll send you some pics of the waves on bondi beach ) thats gonna takle a few months working our way up and hopefully saving more than we spend, cos we're then gonna take a HUUGE trip west, though the northern teritory, darwin and the national park etc, ayres rock, onto perth and the across nullabor plain (the longest straight railway in the world). thats as far as we've got with the plans (although they're pretty loose already) as we've decided that if money/energy/visas etc etc allows we're going to do new zealand for a few weeks. i was told to take a year to do NZ as well, but thats not going to happen. then its 10 days in hong kong and back to gatwick, in august 2008.

Sound's mint, I'm well envious. I think I may have missed the boat with the whole travelling thing what with a mortgage and career and stuff. I'd love to go one day but don't think I'd have the balls to drop everything so kudos to you, I tip my hat.

Awww dude you are in for the best trip of your life!! I went to Oz in 2006 started in melbourne went all the way up the east coast to Cairns!!! Gutted i was only there for a month but as you've sed to save up is a beast... i spent about 2 grand in total not including flights, but i did a tour which cost like 800 and i didnt work while i was there! We met some swiss guys who had rented a car and they said it was a much better idea so do it if you can! You gotta be like over 22 or something tho to get cheap insurance..

Bondi beach is ace for surfing although quite crowded also take like factor 60 sun cream no matter how well you fare in the sun cos me and my mate were plastering ourselves in it every 30 mins and after 3 hours we were lobsters couldnt walk for a day and the shower that night was so painful :P

If you get a chance surf in Crescent Head in New South Wales on the Gold Coast it awesome there but surfing at surfers paradise isnt all its cracked up to be in my opinion!!

Good luck on your travels matey, you wont wana stay put after you come back trust me
