surfing spots
Surfing Spots abound around the world. From the coastlines of North America to the beaches of Australia, there are numerous destinations found in almost every continent that have become popular among Surfing aficionados. Hawaii, where the sport of riding waves originated, remains a Surfing Mecca. So is California, which has numerous Surfing Spots located along its coastline.
Banzai Pipeline, Hawaii's most famous break and the so-called king of all Surf Spots, is regarded as one of the most dangerous Surfing areas in the world but it is still sought by many ardent surfers. Other popular spots in Hawaii are the beaches at Honlua Bay, Ala Moana, and Waikiki. In California, Surfing locations are found from Los Angeles to San Diego. These include the Huntington Beach, dubbed as the Surf City, and Cardiff Beach which has popular swells.
Aside from Hawaii and California, the United States also boasts Surfing Spots in the Atlantic coast and in the Gulf States. These include Florida, Virginia Beach, and North Carolina. Downward in Mexico, surfers troop to the beaches between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, which are famous for their surf breaks. Brazil, Costa Rica, and Peru are also popular destinations in South America. Brazil's Green Coast is a notable destination for surfers. Costa Rica provides consistent surfs in all seasons while Peru offers the longest and biggest waves in the world.
In Europe, the Aquitaine and Charent regions in France, as well as the Basque coastline in northern Spain draw local and international surfers. Moroccan coasts have also become popular Surfing locations in recent years. Like Morocco, South Africa has also gained reputation among surfers. Jeffreys Bay, also known as J-Bay, and the Cape of St. Francis in South Africa have become venues for Surfing Competitions.
Australia, being a big island-continent, is a haven for surfers. Popular Surfing locations in the ‘land down under’ include the Gold Coast, Bondi Beach, and Kirra Point. Bells Beach and Snapper Rock are Australia's most famous breaks. Australia's neighboring country, New Zealand, and other islands in the Pacific also draw surfers from all over the world. Teahupo'o, though considered as one of the most feared Surf Spots in the world, is a top destination in Tahiti.
Indonesia, with its thousand islands, has numerous destinations which are considered as the top Surf Spots in the world. Grajagan or G-Land is known for its high waves. Other great spots in Indonesia include Nias, Lance’s Right, and Uluwatu. In the Philippines, Cloud Nine in Siargao Island is said to be exclusive for experienced surfers as this is one of the toughest breaks in the world.
Certainly, Surfing Spots are all over the world. The most popular destinations have become established Surfing villages, where surfers have considered them as their “home base”. Previously unknown Surfing locations, on the other hand, are increasingly becoming popular. In no time, surfers will establish them as Surfing villages as they devote their life in and around the ocean.
