Ron Jon rides surf popularity to Canada

'On the surface, opening six surf shops in Canada appears to be a questionable marketing move for a Florida retailer.
But executives of Ron Jon Surf Shop say they have little question the move will pay off.
The Cocoa Beach-based retailer last week announced it would license six shops across Canada in a deal with Filmar, which also is a Canadian licensee of the popular O'Neill surfwear brand.
"Canadians do know what Ron Jon is in a big way," Ron Jon President Ed Moriarty said this week. "Canadians enjoy surf fashions. All the surf brands sell their products" in Canada...'
