Shark bite puts an end to UBC prof's surfing vacation

'Shark-attack survivor Elizabeth Dunn's greatest fear materialized on the crest of a perfect wave.
The 28-year-old University of B.C. professor and surfer was riding a wave in Hawaii when she was bitten on the calf by a shark Thursday.
"I was totally terrified and there was nothing I could do," Dunn told reporters in Oahu while recuperating with Vancouver partner Chris Smith, her left leg sporting a large bandage.
"It was my worst fear -- and it's so bizarre to have your worst fear suddenly come true."
