Surfing champion sentenced
OC Register 'World champion pro surfer Sunny Garcia was sentenced by a San Diego federal judge Wednesday to three months in prison and seven months home detention for tax fraud.
The Hawaiian-born Garcia, who now works in Orange County, owes taxes on about $417,000 in contest earnings in the early to mid-1990s.
As part of Garcia's sentence, he will also perform 80 hours of community service, helping the Huntington Beach High School surfing team...'
