Endless waves and milder rides
The Charlotte Observer

'Typically using a skiing or wakeboarding boat, with the motor attached under the boat for safety, wakesurfers use water-filled sacks that can reach more than 400 pounds each to weigh down the back of the boat and create a larger wake. With the boat going only about 10 mph, a 2- or 3-foot high wake forms behind the boat.
Wakesurfers get started with a towrope, and, only about 10 or 15 feet behind the boat, surf freely with the momentum allowing them to ride the wake for as long as they can stay upright.
With its endless wave and relatively injury-free style, wakesurfing has grown in popularity in recent years...'
