Waimea Bay, North Shore, Oahu, Hawaii. Waimea boasts Hawaii's biggest surf and holds the record for the highest waves ever ridden in international competition. As at Sunset Beach, the huge north swells bring out crowds of spectators who gather to watch Waimea surfers suicidal stunts on waves up to 40 feet high. On this day, waves were considered to be small and choppy, so only handful of surfers bothered to paddle out.
