Porth Beach is one of the safest for swimming with some nice surf, conditions allowing. It is most exposed beach out of all in the Newquay Bay Area so it picks up most swell. Depending on shifting sand bars it breaks both left and right and is rideable at all tide stages with low to high being the best as it gives extra push. Popular with novice surfers and body boarders but be prepared for a long walk at low tide. Lifeguards patrolled in high season.
Watch out for rip currents during high surf.

High season: Lifeguards are on duty from mid-May to mid-September. Cafes, restaurants, beach shops and surf hire are also available.
All year: Pub, shop, toilets and car parks.

Porth Beach is located on the outskirts of north Newquay, on the B3276 road from Newquay to Padstow. Parking is available in several location in the vicinity of the beach.
