One of the more popular beach breaks translating into crowds when surf conditions are good. Capable of producing both left and right breaking peaks it works best at low to mid tide. It is a NW facing beach so it works best in E/SE winds. Good for beginners.
If traveling south follow signs from B3327 or if you are traveling north take the minor road off the B3300 and again follow signs. You can also reach Porthtowan from A30 by getting of it at Scorrier and following signs to the village.
High season: Lifeguards.
All year: Car park with toilets, bars, pubs, shops, equipment and surf lessons.
